The Universal Wine Museum in Beijing is scheduled to open in 2024. With an area of 18,000 m², it will be the second largest wine museum in the world. It is a joint project with the world's largest museum of its kind, the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. The museum in Beijing is not intended as a replica of the Cité du Vin, but is to be adapted to Chinese culture and local customs. The design of the museum is based on the silhouette of the city of Saint-Émilion.

Philippe Massol, general director of the Cité du Vin, says: "In Bordeaux, our customers come from all over the world, but a large part of them are French and have a different wine culture than Chinese. We want to build long-term connections. Exhibitions, workshops, conferences held here can be transferred to Beijing."

There are plans for 3,500 m² for permanent exhibitions with the contents "From Vine to Wine", "History of Wine", "Wine in the World", "Wines and Essences" and "The Art of Living Wines". A large room is dedicated to the wine trade, while training courses will be held in a lecture room with 450 seats. The opening is planned for May 2024.
