Italian winegrower Bibi Graetz from Fiesole (Florence) has set a new record. His 27-litre bottle of "Colore 2016" is the most expensive Italian wine bottle ever sold. It was bought by a customer at the luxury Enoteca Arvi in Zurich for the equivalent of 102,500 euros.
The Babylonium bottle was designed exclusively in this large format to celebrate the first release of the Colore and Testamatta wines by Bibi Graetz on the Place de Bordeaux last year. The label features a work of art by Bibi Graetz, who comes from a world-renowned family of artists. The bottle itself was placed in a special case made from the wood of the barrique in which the wine was matured. The work was rounded off with a stainless steel lid and Bibi Graetz's signature.
