The export of Prosecco has increased by 17 percent in the first four months of 2021. According to figures from the Italian statistics office Istat, 120 million bottles were delivered abroad. The Italian farmers' association Coldiretti speaks of "an overwhelming growth". Although the US market remains the most important customer for Italian sparkling wine with an increase of 17 percent, the largest growth was recorded by German importers with 29 percent.
In total, more than 600 million bottles of Prosecco DOC, Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG and Asolo Prosecco DOCG are produced in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
