Two relief campaigns for vineyards in the Ahr region affected by the flood disaster have started on Facebook. Moselle winegrower Karl-Josef Thul is looking for volunteers to provide working time, machines or material to damaged wineries for cleaning up, repairs or urgent work in the vineyards. For this purpose, he has launched the campaign "Winemakers help winemakers" via the specialist group Viticulture & Cellar Management. Anyone who wants to help the flooded Ahr vineyards can register here. Dirk Würtz has also started an appeal via the Facebook group "Hauptsache Wein". He writes: "First aid has started everywhere. Pumps, hoses and aggregates are being collected and driven to the Ahr. Some businesses have been hit extremely hard. For them, we are starting a big wine sales campaign on Monday. Dear colleagues, if you want to make wine available for this, please send me a message about what and how much. Ideally, there should always be at least 60 bottles so that we can put together nice packages. It can also be more if you like. We'll take care of the rest."

The water levels on the Moselle are currently several metres above normal. In Cochem, for example, the water level was 8.19 metres at 14.45 on Friday, 16 July; normal levels are just over two metres. In Trier, the Moselle was at 7.81 metres at the same time, in Zeltingen at 8.91 metres.
