The Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC appellation increased its bottlings by ten percent in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year. This was announced by the Consorzio DOC delle Venezie. While above all red wines are experiencing declining sales, Pinot Grigio is one of the few wines with increasing demand. The market for foreign bottlers developed positively, above all the USA, Great Britain and Germany. Together, they have bottled over 100,000 hectolitres since January, according to the consortium.

"We are experiencing more and more recognition for our appellation every day, mainly thanks to the dynamism of our domestic and foreign bottlers. We enjoy the trust of all national and international operators who believe and invest in the intrinsic values of the appellation, in certification and in traceability," said Albino Armani, president of the protection consortium.

The interregional DOC includes Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino and Veneto and is considered one of the most important white wine appellations in Italy. The appellation sells around 240 million bottles a year and comprises more than 6,000 winegrowers and 1,000 self-marketers and bottlers.
