Three British entrepreneurs have presented their joint project "Pinnacle Guide". The new competition is to award the best bars in the world from 2023. Behind it are Hannah Sharman-Cox and Siobhan Payne, co-founders of London Cocktail Week, and Dan Dove, operator of the personal agency Global Bartending. The business partners designed the Pinnacle Guide according to Michelin's 3-star rating system. They say the ratings will be "based on factual, unbiased information". The Guide is expected to become "one of the most respected awards in the bar industry".

The Pinnacle Guide will begin its launch with a six-month consultation period. All members of the global beverage trade are invited to help shape the guide and contribute ideas to properly evaluate excellence in bars, the founders explained their concept. Subsequently, the final criteria as well as training programmes for the evaluators are to be defined.

The "Pinnacle Guide" plans to announce the first evaluations next year. In 2023, it will award bars in initially eight countries. By 2025, another 50 countries are to be added. "We firmly believe that creating such a system will advance the interests of the bar industry and bring exclusive bars to a wider audience," founders Hannah Sharman-Cox and Siobhan Payne said of their project.
