The British industrial designer Tom Cotton has developed the "eto" decanter, which not only allows wine to breathe, but is also designed to keep it fresh for almost two weeks. The system, which looks similar to a bottle, contains a steel top with an internal, rubber-buffered and specially designed stamp. This covers the opened wine exactly up to the surface and thus forces all the air out of the container upwards.

He is currently collecting money for the project on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter - with success: he achieved the required sum of 55,000 pounds within a very short time. After three days, wine enthusiasts had already invested around 100,000 pounds. The Master of Wine Richard Hemming, who works for Jancis Robinson, for example, was also astonished: "After seven days, I have tasted no difference between wine from a fresh bottle and wine from the eto decanter," he wrote.

For five years, the experienced industrial designer Cotton worked on the project, gave the carafe a lot of blind tastings with professionals and applied for a patent for the carafe's cap. After series production with a stainless steel cap, it will cost just under 80 pounds, currently around 90 euros. According to Tom Cotton, eto will be in stores in February 2018.
