Italy will invest 60 million euros in wine tourism in the coming years. This was announced by the Italian Minister for Tourism, Massimo Garavaglia, on the occasion of the sixth "Global Conference on Wine Tourism", which is hosted by Italy for the first time. From 19 to 21 September, representatives of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) will meet with decision-makers from the Italian Ministry of Tourism and the national tourism agency Enit in Alba (Piedmont) for strategic talks on the global future of wine tourism. Half of the funding comes from the responsible ministry and the other half from the Italian regions. Wine tourism is a growing market that is developing rapidly, said Minister Garavaglia. If you sell a bottle of wine, you also sell the entire region. Sustainability and deceleration are in the foreground. The offers of a region must go hand in hand with the needs of tourists. The goal is to perfectly interweave art, culture, food and wine, Garavaglia continues about the strategic plans of his ministry.

Wine tourism generates 2.5 billion euros annually in Italy. Nine out of ten wineries now open their doors to tourists.
