The Society for Pedagogy, Information and Media (GPI) has awarded the Comenius EduMedia Medal to the International Wine Institute (IWI) in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler for its training programme "IHK Sommelier/-ière". The further training courses "Junior Sommelier/-ière (IWI)", "Assistant Sommelier/-ière (IWI)" and "IHK-Sommelier/-ière" were also awarded the Comenius-EduMedia seal.
In total, over 200 manufacturers, service providers and educational institutions from eight European countries submitted digital educational products to the competition. Two thirds of all submissions were awarded the EduMedia Seal.
"The fact that we, as a small private education provider, were awarded the Comenius EduMedia Medal confirms our efforts to develop digital education concepts very close to the participants and to use them successfully on the market," said Alexander Kohnen, Managing Director of the IWI.
The International Wine Institute offers in-service training and seminars for gastronomy, the hotel industry and the wine trade as well as for private wine lovers. The IWI team specialises in training sommeliers. Over 600 wine experts are trained every year. The courses are offered online, in blended learning and in classroom form.
