Following a successful 2020, the Hawesko Group again posted significant increases in sales and profit in the first half of 2021. Germany's largest wine merchant grew in all segments, i.e. still wines, sparkling wines and spirits. The sales driver during the pandemic was online trade, which also grew by ten percent in the second quarter of 2021. The online platforms hawesko.de, vinos.de, tesdorpf.de and wirwinzer.de more than made up for the loss of tastings and events as well as the declines in the restaurant trade. Sales in the food trade had also increased by around six percent.

Chairman of the Board Thorsten Hermelink does not expect much further growth in the end customer business following relaxations in the Corona measures, but he does expect a significant recovery in the gastronomy sector. From 1 January to 30 June 2021 Hawesko generated sales of € 324.9 million, an increase of 17 percent. The operating result (EBIT) rose by 138 percent to 31.1 million euros. For the full year 2021, the Board of Management anticipates revenue growth of two to five percent.
