The German Wine Institute (DWI), in cooperation with the regional wine promotions, has awarded highlights of wine culture for the third time. The independent jury of experts from the fields of tourism, history, culture and wine awarded 14 new highlights in eleven German wine-growing regions. Wine cultural landscapes, monuments and wineries with an exceptional wine cultural history were selected. For example, the red wine hiking trail on the Ahr, the Winningen vineyard terraces on the Moselle or the cultural-historical wine landscape Geigersberg in Württemberg. The award is intended to promote wine cultural diversity as well as German wine tourism and thus make the wine landscapes known to a larger public.

"The new highlights express the wine culture in the respective regions in a special way and are intended to serve as attractive points of contact especially for tourists interested in culture," explained DWI Managing Director Monika Reule at the award ceremony in Bernkastel-Kues.
