The German young winemakers' association "Generation Riesling" celebrates its 15th anniversary. The German Wine Institute (DWI), as founder, announced that it has developed into the "largest young winemakers' association in the world" with currently around 530 members. The first table presentation of the young winemakers took place in London in 2006. "The original goal of modernising the outdated image of German wines in the UK with the young winemaker generation has become a whole movement. It has definitely contributed to the fact that German wines have been perceived in a much more contemporary and positive way again at home and abroad for some years now," said DWI Managing Director Monika Reule.
In its 15 years of existence, more than 300 members have already had to leave the association again because they had exceeded the age limit of 35. For many of them, membership in Generation Riesling was "a decisive career springboard". The anniversary is celebrated on Instagram and on the website www.generationriesling.de.
