Dom Pérignon has presented its current 2012 vintage. The blend of the champagne consists of 51 per cent Pinot Noir and 49 per cent Chardonnay, the dosage is 5 g/l. Cellar master Vincent Chaperon described 2012 as a "star vintage" in front of journalists in London.

He said it was a "vintage in which all producers in Champagne were able to make the most of their place thanks to the climate" and compared it to 1990 and 2008, saying it had been a "year of contrasts" with an "aggressive winter and spring with hail, frost and disease", while the second half of the year had produced plenty of sunshine and the best conditions for grapes to ripen.

The champagne is due to go on sale in the autumn. At the moment, the champagne house has only announced the price for the UK. There, it will cost 152 pounds, which is the equivalent of about 176 euros. The other prices are not yet known.
