Marco Felluga***, one of the patriarchs of Friulian wine, has died at the age of 96. Together with his brother Livio, he was one of the pioneers of viticulture in the Collio. He founded his company in Gradisca d'Isonzo (Gorizia) in 1956. In 1967, he took over the Russiz Superiore**** winery in Capriva del Friuli in the Collio region. He handed over the management of the company to his son Roberto. After his death in 2021 at the age of just 63, his granddaughter Ilaria took over. According to media reports, she is about to sell the wineries to the Tommasi wine family from Verona. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be a takeover or a partnership.

The President of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, paid tribute to Marco Felluga as a personality who "had the courage and vision for the future after the Second World War and led the country to prosperity by being successful in viticulture and always seeking quality and innovation." His entrepreneurial legacy represents a historical and moral asset "that the regional community must value".
