French wine exports recorded a record value of 15.5 billion euros in 2021, according to the Fédération des Exportateurs de Vins et Spiritueux de France (FEVS). This corresponds to an increase of 28 percent compared to the previous year. Exports to China in particular have risen (+ 56 per cent), but imports to the USA have also increased again (+34 per cent). The USA remains the most important export country for French wines and spirits with a total turnover of 4.1 billion euros. According to the FEVS, the suspension of US taxes on French wine since March 2021 is the most important reason for the renewed increase in exports. Champagne is once again at the top with an export turnover of over 3.5 billion euros. It is followed by Bordeaux (2.3 billion euros), Burgundy (1.27 billion euros), wines from the Rhône Valley (524 million euros) and Provence (313 million euros).
