The prestigious Bordeaux winery Troplong-Mondot in St. Emilion has been sold to the French insurance group SCOR. This was announced by the Château. According to the announcement, the previous owner and managing director Xavier Pariente will retire from his responsibilities within three months. He had managed the Grand Cru classé B operation since 1981, during which time he had significantly improved the quality of the wine and opened a restaurant at the estate, which has since been awarded a Michelin star. Further details about the purchase price and the strategy of the new owner have not become known.
This is already the second acquisition this month in St. Emilion: the Moueix family of winemakers recently bought the Clos La Madeleine winery.
