Italian wine exports have recorded an increase of 15 per cent in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the previous year. According to the Italian statistics office Istat, this corresponds to a value of 5.13 billion euros. The regions with the highest sales are Veneto (+13.1%), followed by Piedmont (+18.3%) and Tuscany (+20%). Italy's three leading wine-growing regions together account for 67.8% of all exports. Veneto exported wines worth 1.78 billion euros, while Piedmont came to 884 million euros and Tuscany 815 million euros. Wines from Trentino and Alto Adige also increased by eight per cent to 454 million euros in export sales, followed by Emilia Romagna with 295 million euros and an increase of 16.5 per cent compared to 2020.
