A 47-year-old man from Italy blackmailed the Tenuta San Guido ***** in Bolgheri as early as March 2022. He demanded 150,000 euro by e-mail and threatened to damage the cellar buildings and vineyards of the Sassicaia winery. The management informed the Carabinieri. As a result, the Livorno public prosecutor's office commissioned a special cybercrime unit to investigate. They were supported by the international police authorities Europol and Interpol. The leads led to a 47-year-old Italian resident in the province of Trieste. He is already known to the police for numerous similar crimes. The suspect had specialised in extorting food companies based in Italy. After seizing his computers and analysing the data, an arrest warrant was issued.
