Albania is now the 50th member of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV). In 2022, Albania had a wine-growing area of 11,339 hectares. According to OIV statistics, the country ranks 41st in the world in terms of producers and 55th in terms of consumers. By joining the OIV, Albania will benefit from the information, cooperation and services of a network of around 1,000 experts. These connections make it possible to participate in the fundamental decisions on the development of the wine sector. The cooperation of Member States within the OIV is a key factor for better communication, more effective legislation and more transparent trade. As a new member, Albania will participate for the first time in the 22nd General Assembly next October.
