Ferrari Trento

For the first time, a chef de caves is leaving his home in Champagne to work as an oenologist at an Italian sparkling wine producer. Cyril Brun (pictured left with Matteo Lunelli), who worked for eight years as cellar master at Champagne Charles Heidsieck and before that for 15 years at Veuve Clicquot, will lead the Ferrari Trento **** team. At Charles Heidsieck, he was responsible for the prestige cuvée "Champagne Charlie", among other things. On the new challenge of making sparkling wine in the northern Italian mountains, he says: "I am convinced of the quality of Ferrari Trento and the potential of Trentodoc. The opportunity to produce sparkling wines using traditional methods from the unique, mountainous terroirs of Trentino is a privilege and an exciting opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience in a new context. Firstly, there will be a phase where I need to understand the terroir before considering any changes. Winemaking is all about the details. We will improve step by step by focussing on the small details."

Brun will succeed oenologist and technical director Ruben Laurentis at Ferrari, who in 37 years at Ferrari has been honoured five times as "Producer of the Year" at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships.

Matteo Lunelli, President and CEO of Ferrari Trento, thanked Laurentis and welcomed Cyril Brun, saying: "His talent in our category is unrivalled."
