At a charity auction in New Orleans, a six-litre bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Glass Slipper Vineyard 2019 from The Setting Wines has been sold for one million US dollars. This is the highest price ever paid for a bottle of wine to date. The winemaker responsible is Jesse Katz from Heraldsburg in California, in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country. The now 36-year-old founded The Setting Wines in 2014 together with two friends. While the only six-litre bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon sold for one million US dollars, a 0.75-litre bottle will be available for as little as 185 US dollars.

The auction at which the bottle was sold was to raise money for the foundation of celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse. Around 3.75 million US dollars were raised, which will enable the charity to deliver on its promise to teach young people about cooking, nutrition and the arts.
