At the traditional VDP auction in Bad Kreuznach (Nahe), a double magnum 2020 Pettenthal GG by Klaus Peter Keller from Flörsheim-Dalsheim (Rheinhessen) achieved the surprisingly high top price of 16,100 euros for a dry wine. The starting price was only 600 euros, and the wine was knocked down after a lengthy bidding war. Only three bottles of this format were on offer.

Previously, a half-magnum 2020 Zeller Kreuzberg Erste Lage from the Battenfeld Spanier winery, also from Rheinhessen, had fetched 8,100 euros. Only two bottles of this auction wine were available.

The auction was organised by the VDP wineries on the Nahe, but the auction catalogue also listed wines from producers in Rheinhessen, the Palatinate and from the Ahr. The total result was around 1.7 million euros. Just under half of the proceeds came from the wines of Klaus Peter Keller.
