Young wine and beer drinkers in France prefer glass bottles to other packaging such as bag-in-box (BiB) or cans by 86 per cent. This is shown by a survey of 755 people aged 20 to 40 conducted by the French Glass Industry Association. 93 percent of them bought wine or beer in glass bottles last year, 26 percent BiB and 17 percent cans. Accordingly, the image value of glass bottles is also significantly higher than that of other packaging. At the same time, expectations are rising for glass bottles in terms of a lower carbon footprint. 60 percent of respondents now expect bottles to be resealable.

At the same time, a wine bottle was introduced in Australia that is made entirely of recycled PET plastic and is 83 per cent lighter than a conventional glass bottle. Australian wine drinkers are considered to be open-minded towards innovations in international comparison.
