After the end of the Covid crisis, the worldwide wine tourism will return to the level before the pandemic in 2022 at the earliest. This is the result of a survey among more than 1,200 wineries in 34 countries by the winetourism.com wine travel portal. 84 percent of the respondents suffered sales losses of more than ten to more than 50 percent due to Corona. Ten percent of them do not expect any improvements in the future, either. Forty-seven percent of respondents reported a drop in international visitors of more than 90 percent.

86 German producers also took part in the survey. Just under 20 percent of them would not have suffered any drop in sales as a result of Covid, while around 35 percent would have suffered a drop of more than 50 to over 80 percent. For just under 35 percent, the decline was between ten and 50 percent. About 27 percent of the business also reported more than 90 percent fewer international visitors than in 2019.
