Wilhelm Haag, an internationally renowned VDP vintner from the Fritz Haag Mosel wine estate in Brauneberg, died a few days ago at the age of 83. This was announced by the VDP. The association calls him "one of the very great vintner personalities of the 20th century and one of the fathers of the renaissance of German wine". Haag had "decisively promoted the reputation of the VDP estates, had led the auction in Trier to new splendor and had drawn the attention of the experts to the great Riesling wines of Germany".

The Fritz Haag wine estate, which was first mentioned in 1605, has been managed by his son Oliver and his wife Jessica since 2005.
