The Spanish winery Familia Torres has been recognised as the "World's most admired wine brand" by industry trade magazine Drinks International. To do so, 100 experts such as Masters of Wine, sommeliers, journalists, restaurateurs and wine buyers were each allowed to name five brands. They were asked to consider the following criteria: The stable quality of the wines, the price-quality ratio and the brand image. Sustainability endeavours and social responsibility were also assessed. Part of the jury is replaced every year.
Familia Torres took first place for the seventh time in the 14th edition of this award, ahead of Catena Zapata from Argentina (winner in 2020) and Penfolds from Australia. Last year's winner Antinori followed in fourth place, swapping places with Torres.
With 34 brands in the list, Europe dominates, with 14 wineries coming from France alone. The only newcomer is Perelada from Spain. With Schloss Johannisberg in 44th place, a German winery was also honoured again after a one-year break.
