The three consortia of Lambrusco producers in Emilia-Romagna have formed the Consorzio Tutela Lambrusco. The Consorzio Tutela del Lambrusco di Modena, the Consorzio per la Tutela e la Promozione dei Vini DOP Reggiano, Colli di Scandiano et Canossa and the Consorzio di Tutela Vini del Reno DOC are all members of the Consortium.
The Consorzio is thus responsible for eight DOC areas with a total of over 16,600 hectares of vineyards. These are Lambrusco di Modena, Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro, Lambrusco Salamino di S. Croce, Reggiano, Colli di Scandiano & di Canossa, Reno and Bianco di Castelfranco Emilia IGT.
In 2019, the companies of the new protection association produced around 42 million bottles of Lambrusco DOC, in addition to almost 130 million bottles of IGT wines.
