The members of the Franconian winegrowers' association have brought in the 2020 vintage, the smallest harvest in 35 years. This was reported by association president Artur Steinmann in his annual report. According to the report, the approximately 3,500 Franconian operations processed an average of only 4,400 litres per hectare and thus a total of around 27 million litres of grape must. The average of the past 20 years is 7,600 litres per hectare, which is about 40 percent higher, Steinmann reported. The reasons for this were the heavy frost in spring and the third dry summer in succession.
