The wine trade platform Wine-Searcher has published the list of the ten most expensive wines in the world. For this purpose, the monthly worldwide average retail prices were determined. Individual vintages are not taken into account, but an overall price is determined for each individual wine.

Burgundy dominates this list in almost overwhelming form: Of the 50 most expensive wines listed on Wine-Searcher, only six are not from Burgundy. Only one non-Burgundy was able to establish itself among the top ten: The Scharzhofberger Riesling TBA from Egon Müller (Saar). Here is the list of the ten most expensive wines in the world with the changes compared to the previous year:

  1. Domaine Leroy Musigny Grand Cru 45,929 euros (+29%).
  2. Domaine Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 25,558 euros (+6.8%)
  3. Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 25.233 Euro (-14,5%)
  4. Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2045 Euros (-6.5%)
  5. Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 19,855 Euros (-29.5%)
  6. Georges & Christophe Roumier Musigny Grand Cru 19,688 euros (+4.5%)
  7. Domaine Leflaive Montrachet Grand Cru 18.053 Euro (+4,4%)
  8. Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling TBA 16.495 Euro (+8%)
  9. Georges & Christophe Roumier Echezeaux Grand Cru 15.946 Euro (+1,5%)
  10. Leroy Chambertin Grand Cru 13,415 Euros (-4%)

Compared to the previous year, the prices for Leroy wines, some of which have fallen considerably, are striking, even though the first-placed Musigny Grand Cru rose by 29%. Experts were surprised by this increase. The Leroy Musigny was already 15 percent more expensive last year, which is twice as much as the worldwide inflation rate. This year, the inflation rate has halved, but for this wine it has doubled again.
Red wines have borne the brunt of the price increases, while white wines have lost on average.
