The Spanish Interprofessional Organisation for Wine (OIVE) and the Platform for Wine Technology (PTV) are promoting twelve projects on climate change in the wine sector. The two institutions have reached an agreement and launched the "Strategic Agenda for Wine Innovation 2021 to 2024". It contains the most important goals and challenges of the wine industry on research, development and innovation.

The projects are to contribute concretely to the sustainability of the sector and to mitigating the effects of climate change. The budget for this is 23.9 million euros with a public share of 19 million euros.
Among the projects are those on soil, plant and microbiological factors of acid balance in wine, the development of new fertilisers, UV light as a stimulator of the plants' own defence substances, choice of vine rootstocks, new strategies to reduce water and energy consumption in winemaking and artificial intelligence in agricultural production.
Webinars were also held on topics such as production techniques for low-alcohol wines, grafting and pruning, optimising irrigation, innovation and climate change. These reached almost 700 participants.
