South Africa's government has allowed wine exports to resume. According to a statement by the responsible minister, Zuma, the considerable transport restrictions for the wine industry would be eased from 1 May. In addition to transporting the wines to the port and airport for export, the wines may now also be transported overland to neighbouring countries again.

This means that the South African wine industry is once again allowed to bottle new wines destined for export. However, strict protective measures would have to be observed. Inspection and certification are also allowed again.

After about five weeks of a strict ban on the sale of alcohol and the closure of restaurants, the wine industry is under considerable economic pressure.
