The Portuguese wine giant SSogrape Mateus rosé, Marqués de Burgos and Sandeman) supports the University of Aveiro in the rehabilitation of Covid 19 patients who have lost their sense of smell. For this purpose, a training kit was developed with natural raw materials such as rosemary powder, tangerine peels, but also pomace powder from local grapes. Sogrape provides grapes for this purpose. The substances are supposed to trigger positive olfactory memories. Clinical trials are underway to determine which type of molecules are most effective in restoring the sense of smell and whether their effect is the same for different types of olfactory disorders. If the results are positive, the kit could also be used commercially for professional groups such as chefs, sommeliers and perfumers.
