The Styrian top winery Sattlerhof as well as the Palatinate winery Jürgen Leiner have joined the biodynamic vintners' association "Respekt Biodyn". Thus, now 25 organic wineries in the German-speaking area are active in the association, which was founded in 2007. Thereof, 17 wineries are from Austria, seven from Germany, and one from South Tyrol. Altogether, their vineyards currently cover about 850 hectares.
The Leiner wine estate in Ilbesheim converted its work to biodynamics as early as ten years ago and is considered as one of the pioneers in the region. The Sattlerhof in Gamlitz received organic certification in 2016 and will produce its first biodynamically produced vintage this year.
