The Champagne House Roederer has released the Vinotheque Cristal for sale in 1999 It follows on from the 1995 and 1996 vintages, which were launched three years ago. The price in Germany will be around 1,000 euros per bottle, the rosé costs just under double that.

The new Cristal has matured for more than 20 years in the cellars of the Champagne House. Initially, the base wine was left on the yeast for between eight and twelve years, depending on the barrel. Then it matured on the bottle for between five and ten years and, according to Roederer, was regularly shaken during this time. After disgorging it matured for between two and six years on the bottle.
