Bergdolt-Reif & Nett
Image header

Winemaker Heinz Bergdolt-Reif from the organic winery Bergdolt-Reif & Nett (***) in Duttweiler (Palatinate) has passed away at the age of 87. Until the end, he worked as the senior manager and "man for everything" in the business, which is now run by his grandson Christian Nett. Heinz Bergdolt-Reif already focussed on bottled quality in the 1960s and stopped producing bulk wine. In the 1980s, he handed over the management to his son-in-law Bernhard Nett, who significantly expanded the distribution of the wines. Since 2007, the fifth generation has been at the helm, focussing on modern marketing without neglecting the traditional history of the business. For example, Christian Nett has returned to using horses to cultivate some of the vineyards in the top Mandelberg site - just as his grandfather once did.

The family cultivates around 37 hectares and mainly produces white wines, such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Silvaner and Sauvignon Blanc, but also wines that are unusual for the Palatinate, such as Lagrein.
