In 2022, 562,000 hectares of vineyards worldwide were cultivated organically. This corresponds to 8.3 per cent of the total vineyard area. The figures were published in the annual report "The World of Organic Agriculture - Statistics and Emerging Trends" by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture Fibl in collaboration with the international organisation Ifoam.

Of the total 562,000 hectares, over 490,000 hectares are located in Europe: In the EU, the proportion of organically farmed vineyards is 12.6 per cent. It has grown by 2.3 percentage points compared to 2021. The leader is France with 157,358 hectares, followed by Spain with 149,934 and Italy with 127,638 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. Far behind are China (18,000 ha), the USA (17,111 ha), Germany (13,800 ha), Austria (9,901 ha), Argentina (9,838 ha), Turkey (9,573 ha) and Chile (6,590 ha).
