The Saar winery Van Volxem ***** has a new management team. After the departure of long-time cellar master and operations manager Dominik Völk to Kartäuserhof on the Ruwer, owner Roman Niewodniczanski now presented his new management quintet. In addition to the managing director Christian Valk, who has been working at the winery since 2020, Christoph Friedrich takes over responsibility for the cellar, Lukas Becker works as field operations manager and Tim Thesen as quality manager.

Christoph Friedrich, who comes from the Mosel, was cellar master at Schloßgut Diel ***** on the Nahe from 1998 to 2021 and has since advised the Ulrich Langguth winery on the Mosel. The 24-year-old Lukas Becker, a Geisenheim graduate like Friedrich, founded a contracting company on the Mosel before he graduated and developed innovative cultivation equipment. Tim Thesen, a 23-year-old viticultural technician, has worked at Joh. Jos. Prüm on the Mosel, Schäfer-Fröhlich ***** on the Nahe and Wittmann ***** in Rheinhessen, and was operations manager at Kartäuserhof from 2018 to 2021. "The rich experience of our new cellar master at one of Germany's acknowledged best Riesling producers, combined with the great enthusiasm for demanding steep-slope viticulture of our young, dynamic winemaking team, will further advance the Van Volxem winery in its claim to excellence," said Roman Niewodniczanski.

The VDP winery Van Volxem ***** produces around 450,000 bottles annually from around 85 hectares of vineyards, mainly steep slopes.
