The winemaker Lorenzo Cesconi from Trentino is the new president of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers FIVI. The 43-year-old was elected by the ordinary general meeting, which at the same time gave itself a new board. Cesconi succeeds Matilde Poggi, who headed the association for nine years and is currently president of the Confédération Européenne des Vignerons Indépendants (CEVI). Lorenzo Cesconi runs the eponymous winery in Trentino with his brothers and father.
"FIVI is now recognised as a serious and reliable interlocutor at both political and trade union level. I firmly believe in the values represented by our federation with its almost 1,400 members. We work in and for our region and follow a unified philosophy in the vineyard, in the cellar and also in the marketing of our wines," said Lorenzo Cesconi after his election.
