Wineries in Germany and Austria have launched their first initiatives to support the people in Ukraine. The Selbach-Oster winery in Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Mosel is donating a special bottling of the dry Mosel Riesling from the 2020 vintage. 1,300 bottles of the steep-slope Riesling will be fitted with a label in the Ukrainian colours and printed with the message PEACE in German and Ukrainian. The wine will be available from 17 March at a price of ten euros per bottle, with shipping costs of 8.50 euros per package. The Selbach family will donate the entire purchase price to the Ukraine aid organisation "Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V.". Orders are accepted by e-mail, telephone, fax and in the shop. More information at www.selbach-oster.de.

The Muster.Gamlitz winery (***) in Styria has launched a similar campaign. The Austrian vintner donated 1,000 bottles of his special bottling Sauvignon Blanc "Frieden", which were also sold at ten euros each. The bottles were sold out within a few hours. The entire proceeds went to the Austrian aid organisation "Nachbar in Not".
