Christian de Billy, long-time managing director and co-owner of the Pol Roger champagne house ( photo 2nd from right), died a few days ago at the age of 93. The grandson of Maurice Pol-Roger had managed the house for almost 50 years. De Billy had been active in management positions at Pol Roger since the 1950s. From 1963, he ran the house together with his cousin Christian Pol-Roger, and in 1977 he was appointed Director General.

In 1975, Christian de Billy had the top cuvée "Winston Churchill" produced for the first time, dedicated to the former British Prime Minister. He had publicly described Pol Roger as his favourite champagne.

At present, Hubert de Billy is the fifth generation to be in charge of the champagne house. He works as commercial director and as head of public relations. His grandson Bastien Collard de Billy has been managing director of Pol Roger since 2020.
