The wine trading group Hawesko Holding AG in Hamburg achieved sales of 620 million euros in the 2020 financial year. This represents an increase in sales of twelve percent compared with the previous year, the group announced "on the basis of provisional figures". Accordingly, Hawesko expects a significant increase in profit before tax to around 42 million euros. In 2019, the figure was still 29.1 million euros.

The higher revenue was achieved primarily through increased demand from end customers in retail shops and in e-commerce. The online business grew by almost 30 per cent in 2020 compared to the previous year. The retail business with Wine & Co. Austria as well as Jacques' Wein-Depot achieved sales growth of twelve percent in the period. An "exceptionally high demand in the Christmas business" had further improved the operating result of these segments. The B2B business recorded a decline in sales of five percent due to a lack of sales to the catering and hotel trade. Hawesko was able to "almost compensate for this through increased demand in other sales channels".
