The Tuscan wine company Marchesi Frescobaldi has bought the Tenuta Calimaia estate in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano growing region. The estate includes 70 hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah. It is located in the district of Cervognano, on the hills between the Val di Chiana and the Val d'Orcia. The acquisition of Tenuta Calimaia represents a return to Montepulciano for the Frescobaldi family, as their ancestor Lionardo di Niccolò Frescobaldi was mayor of Montepulciano in 1390.

"As in all our wineries, we will follow our guiding principle of 'Cultivating Toscana Diversity' and showcase the specificities of the terroir. This is what has always inspired us to work passionately: to use all our winemaking experience to highlight the most suitable areas of Tuscany," says Lamberto Frescobaldi, president of Marchesi Frescobaldi, about the purchase.

Marchesi Frescobaldi includes the following wineries: Castello Pomino (Pomino), Castello Nipozzano (Nipozzano), Tenuta Perano (Gaiole in Chianti), Tenuta Castiglioni (Montespertoli), Tenuta CastelGiocondo (Montalcino), Tenuta Ammiraglia (Magliano in Toscana), Remole (Sieci), Gorgona and Tenuta Calimaia (Cervognano).
