Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola's Californian winery in Sonoma has unveiled two wines it has produced exclusively for the Oscars awards ceremony on 23 February. The "Final Cut - 91st Edition Rutherford 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon" and the "Final Cut - 91st Edition Russian River Valley 2017 Chardonnay" will be poured at the event, the winery announced.
Coppola also had a special label designed for the two wines especially for the Oscars, which took five years to develop. It shows animated scenes of a historical image drum in motion. In the process, the grapes of the wine move from the vineyard to the Oscar night. According to the winery, director Coppola has a collection of these optical devices that mechanically create moving images.
The winery expects to serve about 2,400 bottles or 14,000 glasses of their wines on 23 February.
