The first Masters of Wine (MW) of the 2024 vintage have been appointed. As announced by the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW), UK-based Emily Brighton MW, Christopher Martin MW, Robert Mathias MW, Dror Nativ MW and Italian Pietro Russo MW have been awarded the coveted title. This is awarded following extensive and demanding theoretical and practical examinations. There are now 417 active Masters of Wine from 31 countries.

Emily Brighton MW is technical manager at British wine importer North South Wines. She is currently the youngest female MW and, as a dual national, the first Latvian MW. Christopher Martin MW teaches and discovered his love of wine during an extended stay in Austria. Robert Mathias works as a buyer at Bordeaux Index and specialises in France. Dror Nativ opened the first Irish pub in Tel Aviv and is a wine buyer for the Marks & Spencer chain. Pietro Russo comes from a family of winemakers and has worked as head oenologist at the Sicilian winery Donnafugata since 2010 (****)
