Five candidates will stand for election as the 80th Palatinate Wine Queen on 5 October 2018. The jury of journalists, advertising experts and representatives of the Palatinate wine industry has the choice between Julia Auermann-Gass from Bad Dürkheim, Melina Hey from Oberotterbach, Meike Klohr from Neustadt-Mußbach, Anna-Lena Müsel from Obrigheim and Christina Schött from Kleinniedesheim, who are running to succeed Inga Storck from Einselthum.

The election on 5 October, broadcast by Rhein-Neckar-Fernsehen (RNF), consists of two parts. After the questions from the jury of experts in the morning, the future ambassadors of the Palatinate will perform in front of several hundred visitors in the evening. At the coronation event in Neustadt's Saalbau, the aim is to convince the audience with wine knowledge, quick-wittedness and charm. The event will be hosted by RNF presenter Markus Hoffmann and former German Wine Queen Janina Huhn.

The budget of Pfalzwein-Werbung, which coordinates the wine queen's appearances, amounts to almost 20,000 euros for travel expenses, clothing allowances and seminars.
