Tenuta Masseto

At Sotheby's, 132 bottles from the Masseto estate reserve were auctioned for the first time. The result of 376,625 euros far exceeded the estimate of 200,000 euros. Collectors from Europe, America and Asia bought all 46 lots and took advantage of the unprecedented opportunity to bid for wines from the winery's own archive. These were selected earlier this year by Masseto and Sotheby's staff and spanned three decades, from the 1996 to 2016 vintage, and included magnums, double magnums, imperials (6 L) and a Nebuchadnezzar (15 L) from the 2010 vintage, which set a new record for a bottle of Masseto at 56,250 euros.

All bottles are delivered in oak crates specially made by an artisan in Bolgheri. They are numbered and have special guaranteed security features as well as a certificate of origin signed by winery director Axel Heinz.
