German winemaker Eva Fricke from Eltville in the Rheingau region is having a selection of her wines auctioned off at Sotheby's in London. Among them are all 18 half-bottles of the 2019 Lorcher Krone Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese, which was awarded the highest score of 100 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Born in Bremen, Fricke, who came to the Rheingau 20 years ago as a career changer to make wine, works sustainably and close to nature as well as with minimal cellar technology. She cultivates the vineyards by hand and does not use herbicides or pesticides. The Lorcher Krone Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 2019 is expected to fetch between £2,000 to £3,000 (€2,300 to €3,500) per half bottle. The auction will take place on 10 September.
