The Institute of Masters of Wine has appointed three new Masters of Wine. They are Claire Blackler from the UK, Michael Henley from New Zealand and Canadian-born Siobhan Turner, a long-time London resident. The three join the ten Masters of Wine who passed their exams in February. This means that with the 2021 vintage, a total of 13 MWs received their award. The second stage theory and practical exams were cancelled in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic and postponed until early 2021. They will now take place from 31 August to 3 September at seven locations worldwide. Candidates who pass this part of the exam are scheduled to take the final stage later in the year.

This brings the total number of Masters of Wine worldwide to 419 - 268 men and 151 women from 31 countries. Since the first exam in 1953, 496 people have earned the title of MW. The most important countries from which MWs come are currently the United Kingdom (209) and the USA (57), Australia (28), France (18), New Zealand (16), Canada (10) and Germany (10).
