Exporting wine to the UK Wine trade will continue to function with eased regulations until the end of the year. The goods declaration defined with the "Import Accompanying Document V I 1" is to become necessary as late as from 31 December 2021, the British wine business magazine Harpers reports. Initially, it had been planned to make the information obligatory for wine imports as early as from 1 July 2021. They serve the detailed declaration of goods and require a high bureaucratic effort. Thus, analyses of laboratories, which have to be certified in the UK, will become obligatory.

The delay was triggered by the commitment of traders and the Wine and Spirits Trade Association (WSTA). In addition to a sharply worded letter to an MP, two importers had pointed out the business-threatening problems in a BBC programme. Whether there will be an easing of the onerous rules after 31 December 2021 remains open.
