The Federal Ministry of Finance in Berlin and the finance ministers of the federal states have agreed on a solution for the disbursement of the donation money collected for the benefit of the winegrowers affected by the Ahr flood disaster. This was announced by the Federal Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner (FDP), in a letter in response to a question from the CDU Member of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner. According to the letter, the "proposed method of payment respects the law on donations and the principles of non-profit status". It "ensures an even and fair distribution of donations" and reduces bureaucracy. Further details are not yet known.

According to Lindner, initiatives, associations and organisations should contact their responsible tax offices before paying out amounts to those affected: "I am sure that it is possible to find a solution together with the local tax administration officials that is compatible with the existing legal rules," the letter states.
